MYOS is pleased to share that the latest Malaysia obesity data are now available on the World Obesity Federation Global Obesity Observatory.

The updated Malaysia country profile highlights the continuing public health priority of obesity in the country. Based on the latest NHMS 2024 Nutrition findings, 23.1% of Malaysian adults are living with obesity, 30.5% are living with overweight, and 52.1% have abdominal obesity.

Among children and adolescents aged 5–19 years, 13.6% are living with obesity and 14.4% are living with overweight.

The data further reinforces the need for coordinated national action across prevention, early screening, clinical management, policy advocacy, and multidisciplinary obesity care.

As of 2026, Malaysia now ranks 2nd in ASEAN, 20th in Western Pacific and 108th in the world in global rates of obesity.  Proceed to the Global Obesity Observatory website by World Obesity Federation to understand the trends, drivers, detailed breakdown, implications and impact of these numbers to our country.
